5 Ways to simplify postpartum recovery after a vbac

5 Ways to Simplify Postpartum Recovery After a VBAC

Published on: March 24, 2025

Recovering from a VBAC is no small feat. It’s an incredible achievement—one that demands patience, grace and a whole lot of support. As a mom who’s been there, I know firsthand how overwhelming postpartum life can feel, especially when you’re trying to recover while caring for a newborn. But it doesn’t have to be so hard.

That’s why I’ve put together 5 simple tips to help you focus on healing while making life a little easier during those tender first weeks.

5 Ways to simplify postpartum recovery after a vbac

1. Choose High-Quality Diapers

Newborn messes are no joke! A reliable diaper is worth its weight in gold. Coterie diapers were a lifesaver for my family during recovery with both my cesarean baby and my VBAC baby. Their superior absorbency meant fewer blowouts and fewer middle-of-the-night outfit changes. Less mess = more time to focus on you.

2. Use Gentle, Effective Wipes

When you’re recovering from a VBAC, even simple tasks can feel exhausting. That’s why having the right wipes on hand matters. Coterie wipes are not only effective but also super gentle—perfect for baby’s delicate skin and even postpartum-sensitive areas for mom. (Trust me, they’re a game-changer!)

3. Set Up a Diaper-Changing Station

The less hassle during your recovery, the better. Create a dedicated diaper-changing area stocked with diapers, wipes, cream and extra clothes. Consider adding in your nursing and/or pumping supplies, too! Having everything in one place minimizes trips up and down stairs or across the room when you’re up in the middle of the night with a new baby.

4. Automate Your Supplies

The last thing you want to worry about is running out of diapers and wipes. Coterie’s subscription service ensures you’re always stocked. I absolutely loved how stress-free it made those chaotic early weeks—no panicked late-night trips to the store!

5. Create a Postpartum Care Kit

Don’t forget about yourself. Put together a basket with your essentials: a water bottle, snacks, nipple cream, pads, pain relief and anything else you’ll need to stay comfortable. You deserve care just as much as your baby does.

Recovering from a VBAC takes time, but with a little planning and the right tools, you can make it through with less stress and more ease. You’ve already done something incredible—now it’s time to give yourself the grace and support you need to heal. Coterie makes life with a newborn so much easier and they’ve graciously offered our community an exclusive discount. Use code VABC20 for 20% off your first order of $40 or more and see why our team can’t shut up about Coterie diapers and wipes.
